Losing someone is a big sacrifice but losing someone for no reason is heart getting killed by itself.
After the case of Nilotpal and Abhijeet, we all are seeking justice for those two innocent souls. Not only us, the entire world is seeking justice for them.
A closed one of Abijeet has posted a status seeking justice for Nilotpal and Abhijeet. The status has mad all of us cried certainly.
The status goes like this, ” #JusticeforAbhijeetNath
I was arranging my office desk, shutting down the computer and was about to return from work. It was 8:05 PM, 8th June 2018. I received a call from my sister with a shaken and panicked voice “Airin ba Airin ba….Abhijeet r phone tu kunubae receive korise and moi jetia hudilu kun, manuh tuye ulutai hudile apuni kun” Bhontie hudhile jar phone hoi tak diyok . In a broken Assamese- Karbi tone Manuh tuye kole nai hi nai, Bhontie hudile he kot ase, Manuhjone kole mori goise, ami mari pelalu, rastat pori ase. Bhointie kole- Please eneke nokobo, tak namaribo, kiyo marise hudhat he casually kole hi eyat ahise. Tar pisot bontik hudhile apuni kun, bhontiye kole moi tar manujoni, namaribo tak. He kole nai napai aru mari pelalu tur mota aru napau. He hudhile Abhijit ki manuh, Bhontiye kole Assamese. He ako hudile kor hoi, bontiye kole Guwahati .He kole aru Guwahati jabo napai aru . mori goise kali newspaper t sail lobi tur mota tuk.” (Why am I writhing the whole conversation in such details is to show the casualness and the pleasure he took to convey the news. He took Abhijeet and Nilotpal as objects which he got pleasure by killing it.)
On hearing this my heart started pumping fast, managed to ask my sister to cool down and asked her not to worry as I am m on my way to home. She pleaded “jaldi aa na, ami karbi angling jabo lagibo nahale taak mari pelabo, plese jaldi aa”. I was blank for a moment, called Abhijeet’s dad who was returning home from Morigaon, his working place for weekend. I narrated the whole thing, he was totally unaware. Being a father, his response was positive and asked me not to worry and to console my sister. He said I will talk with Abhijeet’s mom whether he went to Karbi Anglong or not. And we decided to go to Dispur Police station. I reached home, my sister was shivering and on shock. I along with my sister and my friend Manish processed to Abhijeet’s home, met them on the way and then we went to Police Station.
Abhijeet’s father narrated everything to the police officer. The officer started all the necessary investigating thing and finally traced Abhijeet’s last call receipt location by 9:00 PM, it was at Dokmoka. The situation was so panic- stricken, I can’t see my sister crying. Everything was so confusing. Sister was continuously asking let us all go to Karbi Anglong, or else Abhijeet would die. I did’nt knew what to do and finally gathered consciousness and called a friend who works in Karbi Anglong DC Office. I asked her where Dokmoka is.., she said it is under Phuloni Circle. I called another friend who works in Phuloni Revenue Circle. He was not aware of any incident. After 15 minutes or so, he called me and said- “baido khabar ata ase, dokmoka area t ata case hoise..duta manuhk public ke mari pelale..suli dighal asil, black bolero asil” That moment I felt numb. My brain accepted the news but my heart repeatedly said no it cannot be true as their vehicle was black Scorpio.
Meantime, the Police Office asked my sister ‘do you have any photograph of Abhijeet and Nilotpal, and asked whether they have long hair. After listening what my sister said, the Officer went to the next cabin and was over phone talking to someone. I was nearing to accept what that guy from Phulani said was true. All of a sudden the Office came out of the cabin and asked Abhijit’s dad – “ami Dokmoka jabo lagibo, moi escort akhan arrange kori disu… lagat danger gari akhan lagibo” Till date, I do not know, how police conveyed the deadly news to his father—on the way to Dokmoa or at the Police Station itself. Managed to bring back home Abhijeet’s mom and my sister as they insist to go to Karbi Anglong along with police. The darkness of 8th June night was horrible. But my sister and his mom was positive. They were saying…”eku nai lora tu haat bhori bhanok, paralysis hoi jaok eku nai…matro ghuri ahile hol” At 2:00 in the morning, my sister suddenly remembered about a friend of Abhijeet who went to Karbi Anglong with him before. She texted him over messenger and the guy within no time sent his phone number and Abhijit’s vehicle number. The news he gave was the ultimate. He said Abhijeet is no more and he got the news from an inside source. Though my sister was unconsolable, she had a hope because the police and Abhijeet’s dad said that he was fine and met with some serious internal injury. It was hidden from my sister and his mother that he was dead already, till his dead body arrived the next day.
That wait was so long and deadly. On 9th eve I took home my sister to get freshen up. She took bath and as usual, she got beautifully groomed and was talking to herself…’if Abhijeet sees me with swelled eyes and undisciplined, he would get hurt.
While returning to Abhijeet’s home, his bye-lane was jammed with police jeep, escort teams and lots of people. Sister asked me—ki hoise yaat, kio eman manuh, police kio eman ke. And finally, my sensitive girl got the most insensitive news of her life. If anyone would have seen the dead body of Abhijeet, the pain will not take minutes to turn into flames of hatredness towards human existence.
Now, who Abhijeet was- He was an innocent soul who went to Karbi Anglong along with a dear friend Nilotpal to look for contacts from fisherman there to collect a rare fish- coloured sengeli known as “Channa Stewartii” which he got informed from a fish breeder in Mumbai named Sanjayji that it is available only in Karbi Anglong. His room is full with aquariums. He was a dog lover. His dogs Spike, Aizen and Zendaya and his fishes doesn’t even know that their father is no more. And his only love were his parents and his to be wife. He has completed engineering and was planning for a simple and a happly life. He loved eating ice cream, chocolates, chips…he was a childlike soul.
Who my sister is- She is an another innocent soul. Deeply in love with each other, she accepted the proposal of Abhijeet’s parents to marry their son. Parents wanted them to get married before Abhijeet’s 31st birthday i.e., before September this year. For her life was all about love, care, happiness and to be together always. Zendaya is her hold and Abhijeet’s heart. She was a 2016 batch LLB- Criminology topper under Gauhati University. She had planned the future with him. Now will she recover???
Who am I- I am the girl who loves her sister unconditionally. I wanted both of them to get settled with respective careers before marriage and was opposing an early marriage for which they agreed to postponed and started working hard towards their goals.
Firstly, my question is, what was the fault of Abhijeet and Nilotpal? They were returning from Karbi Anglong by 6PM about which he informed my sis saying “baby moi ulai ahi asu dei”. By 7:00PM his mom called him, someone picked the phone and mom got some background noises which she thought him to be in some market place. At 8:00PM my sister called and got that terrible news. The Deputy Commissioner of the District- Mr. Mridul Mahanta’s comment was not of an administrator. If the caliber, mentality and capacity of an Officer and a commoner does not have any difference let the barbaric people rule the district. Atleast then outsiders will have knowledge about the barbarians living there and no such incidents would occur.
Secondly, Late Jhankar Saikia’s father is still on shock. No justice till date. My fear, same will happen to Abhijeet and Nilotpal. Police Administration has history of fake encounters, fake arrests… my fear is mere picking up villagers to shut down protest all over Assam. Hope this time the 3 of them get justice. They said Fast Track Court is taken under consideration and the culprits will be slapped with death sentence or life time imprisonment. I hope they will not leave culprits after the public protest decreases. I want justice in truer sense. I have not watched news or much of fb post nor I have revisited the police station yet. I am lacking knowledge about the case. But I will gear up.
Thirdly, just seen, one of the police officials has posted “Don’t target any community…..target the crime and the criminals….God will never let humanity die. God bless all. Just prayers” He is right, but his sentence is incomplete. The animals that practically beat the two innocent boys was roughly 15 to 16 in numbers from different community. But the whole village that are saving that 15 to 16 animals by not supporting the investigation. Here, the matter is about mentality. They will not change. Along with the main culprit named ‘Alpha’ the instigator all are equally to be blamed for. The administration needs strict laws. The same thing will repeat again after a few years. My state’s reputation is on fire. How can the Administration be so lame and laid back. Top profile meetings and consoled words would not help. Constancy and lack of deviation today- tomorrow and years to come is what people expect.
Now, apart from all, how will my sis, and Abhijeet- Nilotpal parents will recover from such a trauma. The pain is unbearable. My heart aches. Almost all hearts are crying.
